Carved Scaup Decoy

This carved and painted wooden decoy appears to represent a scaup, likely a lesser scaup (Aythya affinis) or a greater scaup (Aythya marila). The rounded head shape, dark coloration, and subtle feather details suggest a drake scaup. The presence of a small greenish speculum (patch on the wing) also aligns with scaup characteristics. The bill is slightly thick, which is typical of diving ducks like scaups.
